In Morocco, the Global Energy Districts Programme (GEDP) began its promotion process in 2024 as part of the international scalability strategy led by UNIDO and SECO to strengthen sustainable urban solutions in North Africa. The program focuses on identifying opportunities for the development of energy districts by integrating energy efficiency, renewable energy, and resilient urban planning.
Since its arrival in the country, GEDP has advanced the development of institutional partnerships, the strengthening of technical capacities, and the promotion of energy models aligned with national goals for energy transition and decarbonization. Morocco, recognized for its regional leadership in renewable energy, represents a strategic platform for scaling energy district solutions across cities and industries in the African continent.
